Yoga Teacher Training Certificate 200

Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies presents a 200 hour Wholistic Yoga Teacher Training program that honors the totality of your being: body, mind, and spirit.  This very current training will provide you with the up-to-date technical and teaching skills you need to become a skilled teacher of yoga.  Students will learn how to execute a series of classical yoga postures, will learn their benefits and contraindications, along with basic anatomy and physiology as applied to yoga.  Asana study will be a complete and wholistic practice, including warm-ups, counter stretches, transitional poses, cool-downs, posture flow sequences and therapeutic applications.  This intensive study will incorporate specific teaching methodology, utilization of verbal and tactile prompts, enhanced observation skills, corrections, and specialized instruction in the construction and delivery of yoga lesson plans.  Additional yoga techniques, including many exercises in pranayama, kriyas, yoga nidra, chakra study, meditation, visualization/affirmation will be an integral component of exploration.

Considerable study of the philosophy and history of yoga, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, and the Bhagavad Gita, will be presented to pupils.  Marketing skills, professional ethics, communication skills and at-home study will provide added benefits.  As part of their practicum requirements, participants will engage in practice teaching in which they will have many opportunities to enhance their verbal skills in lesson delivery. Throughout this high-level training, students will be encouraged to live a yogic lifestyle, to engage in witness consciousness, and to embrace the gift of compassion. Lourdes Institutes’ Yoga Teacher Training was established in 1993 and is one of the oldest training facilities for yoga in the Tri-State area.  Our core staff of trainers includes several veteran teachers with a multitude of years of experience.  We are  housed in a wonderful academic and medical setting, Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ, where we embrace diversity and welcome all students with six months or more of yoga practice to join our training.  We are a member of Yoga Alliance in good standing.
